Weddings can be simply magical. My husband and I have been blessed enough to witness some pretty incredible unions, and have just loved being witness to new beginnings.
Another love we have is for this beautiful city – it’s historic landmarks and incredible views. So when we were invited to a wedding at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, our immediate thought was to book a room and make a weekend out of it. Our room was spacious and had an incredible views of The Parliament buildings and Rideau Canal locks. It had a historic feel with a modern bathroom with all the touches you would expect from a luxury stay.

The Fairmont Chateau Laurier has a presence that captivates you from the minute you feast your eyes on it. Located in the heart of downtown, it’s enchanting architecture and grandeur makes the perfect spot to start a love story – or in our case- continue ours.

Inside, the historic lobbies and hallways give was gorgeous ballrooms. Every detail at the wedding we attended was simply beautiful, expertly decorated with cascading flowers various candelabras to set a romantic tone. Sunlight poured in from the magnificent massive windows allowing the room’s beauty to shine in natural light.

We booked our Fairmont Gold stay. Checking in in a separate lobby (kind of like a hotel within a hotel) was a fabulous experience I highly recommend. It’s the little bit of luxury that elevated the stay to another level. It was such an added bonus that we were checked in right away, and had the keys to our room within minutes.

We decided to spend the time between the ceremony and cocktail hour sipping Americanos (the Fairmont Chateau Laurier affectionately call the espresso machine George), munching on biscotti and chatting with others that have indulged in what the Gold lounge had to offer. We had breakfast in the lounge the day after the wedding, and feasted on crepes, eggs, fruit and cheese platters that exceeded our expectations. We even bumped into the bride’s parents and other guests that chose the Fairmont Gold experience, further extending the festivities into the next morning.
My husband and I have a couple more weddings to attend this year at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, and won’t hesitate to book our stay with the Fairmont Gold experience.
If you are planning a wedding in the capital, or are invited to one, I highly recommend the Fairmont Chateau Laurier. The Fairmont Gold experience turned the entire week end into a magical staycation.
